Information for international students

The Juridische Faculteitsvereniging Groningen (JFV) (English equivalent: Judicial Faculty Association of Groningen) is one of the largest study associations in Groningen. Since 1908 the JFV is the only association that is linked to the Faculty of Law. The JFV is there to support all the Law students in Groningen. It offers a discount of 10% on study books and a discount on additional study materials for all it’s members. Moreover it organises a lot of activities, such as the Law Congress of Groningen, excursions in The Netherlands and abroad and a monthly informal reception in Café De Keyzer. For most activities the main language is Dutch. However, the JFV does have some activities that are suited for international students. Every year there are two excursions organised, during which you will visit law-related organisations in The Netherlands. In the past we have visited organisations such as the Ministery of Foreign Affairs and the Moot Court in The Hague. At these trips the spoken language is English. Furthermore, you are more than welcome to join us at the monthly reception in Café De Keyzer, where you can meet other Law students. These receptions take place every first Monday of the month. If you want to join us on one of these trips, keep checking the website www.jfvgroningen.nl and the International Office to see our up-to-date excursions. Membership of the JFV for these activities is not required. However, if you do sign up, you can receive a 10% discount on your study books. Furthermore, there are additional materials provided in the JFV Studyshop (Uurwerkersgang 8A) for some of the international courses. The costs of subscription are only €10,- per year.
